Tourism Queensland (again – wow, three grand prix and they’d have had four if they’d entered promotional category), Fiat and Warner Brothers (for Dark Knight Returns): all these deserving entries took a grand prix in the Cyber Lions category.
This is a video compilation of the entry case studies. Enjoy and do share with others.
We were lucky enough to attend an intimate event with director Spike Lee. He was in Cannes as part of MOFILM’s pioneering user-generated content/crowd-sourcing competition on behalf of 12 global brands, including RAPP clients Best Buy, HP and Philips. Interestingly, this process bypassed agencies altogether as the media company went straight to the public to provide the mobile ad content. Spike reassured us that this doesn’t spell the end of the need for agencies and creatives, but that to survive, we will have to embrace this new reality.
Sue Northcott, TV Producer from RAPP London, finishing the Fireflies – an ad industry charity bike ride from Evian in the Alps to Cannes: you can see the route map here. For the third year in a row! An amazing achievement and a big, big grin to match. Well done girl.
Barney and I attending the new director’s seminar just before lunch. A wide mix of incredible work and Saatchi’s have made it all available online. Do watch one evening – it’s much more entertaining than masterchef.
Below is a fantastic film for Adidas safety wear – about a bloke who sets up a break-up service.
Sopranos star, E-Street band member and record label owner Steven Van Zandt talked about the future of music in advertising. Ideas discussed included brands sponsoring bands rather than just buying the rights to a certain song. That bands should see sponsorship as an opportunity.
Keypoint to take away from this seminar. A live band consisting of young blond Norwegian girls is much more engaging than powerpoint.
